My Southern is coming out today I guess.
In my mission to grow carrots I was delighted to see sprouts today in my big 'ole pot. Not more than an inch tall but more than enough proof that there is life and my carrot-growing-goal isn't a lost cause yet, which is glad because for a second there I was starting to get nervous that nothing was going to grow.
When I planted them I knew I didn't place them where the should be because the seeds were really, really tiny so I just scattered them initially. Once they start to sprout like this though they need to be spaced about 2in. apart. This is so the carrots have room to grow and therefore spacing them increases the amount of carrots you can get.
Above is what they looked like before I spread them out. A couple little clusters and lots of sprouts all over.
I carefully pulled a lot of sprouts and their cute little roots up and moved them apart from one another as best I could. The bottom picture shows what it looked like after replacing them. There are lots that are still next to one another but I did try to give them as much room as possible.
I have to admit I am really enjoying growing these. I feel like they are my little pride and joy. I know I am going to be so excited to share them with everyone once they are full grown and yummy!
