Hello! Happy April everyone! I especially love April because it's my birthday month =). The 6th to be exact, and I am excited because some friends are going with me to Berkeley Springs, WV to the natural hot springs that George Washington frequented. I'm not a history buff but I've always wanted to go here and passed it many times on the way to lovie's unit. It's a few hours away though so it was never something I took the time to make an extra trip for. The town also looks super cute so I'll definitely share about my day there once my birthday arrives.
In the mean time- I joined the 30 Day Green Smoothie Challenge over at simplegreensmoothies.com. After getting all my supplies I set out to make some more ready-to-ninja smoothie bags.
I had these frozen mixed berries already, but I bought frozen peaches, frozen raspberries, a few avocados, bananas, pineapples, and mangoes, and of course the green - kale. Or you can use spinach, bok choy, etc. but I already had kale so that's what I'm using this week.
I added my ingredients in each bag then into the freezer and every morning I pull one out and plop them into the ninja along with some water, coconut milk, regular milk, or whatever low sugar liquid you like.
As you can tell I had every thing in a complete haphazard smoothie-makingmasterpiece mess while taking the photos =)
I've posted about smoothies before and I'm excited to be doing the challenge to add more super greens to my diet everyday and to get a variety of fruits and veggies. It also is great to kick-start your metabolism if you have one of these within the first hour when you get up. You should be eating something very soon after getting up... no breakfast skipping allowed here.
Have you tried making any smoothies yet? Don't be afraid of the greens, they really aren't bad mixed in with everything else.
Happy slurping!
