Hello!
I knew that I wanted to do a pirate themed care package and I actually thought long and hard about how I would make it work. I even had one already complete but decided it looked ugly and re-did one on a medium box with pirate wrapping paper I actually already had that I had totally forgotten about.
I don't know if I mentioned before but I decided that I will probably be sending one large box and one medium box per month. Lovie so far doesn't seem to really need a lot of stuff nor doesn't he tell me he wants anything so I think this will be a good amount for now.
Like I said I actually had been putting a lot of thought into this care package but just couldn't figure out how I wanted to make it happen, but since having made the cereal bars I needed to send them out pronto so I went with a simple treasure map which I am actually really happy with! In this case less is more and I should just not get so worked up about things.
I used white computer paper to make the "treasure map" and wrote "You Are Here" on a little post-it sticky with a line to make it look like a flag, then used a sharpie to draw a dashed line around the box to the red X at the end. The flap to the left says Ahoy Matey with some waves and then it says "Follow the treasure map back home... to get my booty!"
In the next post I'll show you what I put in it- all baked goods! This box technically didn't cost me anything because the wrapping paper I already had and the baked goods were made with stuff I already had also. Wrapping paper is my new favorite way to decorate the care packages, it's so easy to work with and is very easy to create a theme with.
Try making a treasure map this week for someone. It doesn't have to be a care package, it could be used for anything.
